Afterword

A lot of the neural "science" described in this novel is pure fiction.  I hope it does not mislead anyone.  However, if it excites even one reader to follow a path to science, then that would be worth the effort put into this novel.  The difference between “science fiction” and “fantasy” is that the former lays out a plausible foundation of science for the story.  However, the science could be a bit heavy for some readers, so I moved it out to a separate chapter.

This novel is the result of an engineer trying to write a love story.  It is my first novel.  I approached it as I would any other engineering project.

1.     Set the high level requirements: be humorous, a lovey story based on science and technology, and have a happy ending.

2.     Draft a plot outline and validate the timeline.

3.     Research the foundation for the science, and for character development.

4.     Build component chunks of text for each chapter.

5.     Edit for fit and finish, perform QA and beta test.

The Spark Gap theory is used to enhance the readers' experience.  The text deliberately omits some explanations, allowing the reader to fill the gap, which gives them a moment of gratification.
